Laura Hill of an Internet blog called KimikoGaming has published an interesting article about the possible origin of the legendary Pokémon Pokémon X and Y. I have taken the trouble to make a translation to share with you, and can also give their views.

The more I thought about the meaning of the Legendary Pokémon X and Y being an eagle and a deer, the more I started thinking about the history of Nordic mythology Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life. Yggdrasil is a giant tree created from pure ash and located in the center of the universe, joining the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. Several portions of this myth that could be related to Pokémon X and Y, and also explain the reasoning behind the names of the games and why are Legendary animals are.

Pokemon X, Y, y Z:  Eje 3D

X, Y and Z are the coordinates forming a 3D plane. This also works for the Nintendo name as it will be the first game of mainline Pokémon for 3DS. However, the implication of Yggdragol history suggests that this axis is not only for the 3DS, but symbolizes the three parts of the tree. The history of Yggdrasil discusses how stem from the root to the topmost branches of the tree could be considered as a three-dimensional axis that is located in the nine worlds around you. These three main worlds are associated with each area of the tree. Asgard, the realm of the gods is in the upper area. Midgard, or Middle Earth (the world of mortals) is located in the middle. And HEL (Niflheim) at the base of the tree. These three dimensions of Gods, Mortals and Demons, suggests that we would be three games and that's not all. Each of these three worlds has a special mythical creature associated with them.

At the top of Yggdrasil, Asgard where lives a mythical eagle whose name is unknown. In some references to the myth, the eagle is blind, but it is said that the eyes of the eagle can see the depths of the soul of all living beings of the nine worlds. This eagle is represented by the legendary Pokémon called Yveltal. Yveltal has some features that resemble this creature. Most people who are blind or animals tend to wear a blue hue in her eyes.

Yveltal eyes are clear blue, and as seen in the trailer are a bright blue to dark, which highlights the suffering blindness theory, just as the eagle of myth. The version of Pokémon "and" could represent the height coordinate "Y" tree where Asgard, besides being the home of the legendary Yveltal would become an eagle.

Nordic Poetic drawing four deer living in Yggdrasil.

In the middle of Yggdrasil (the trunk and soil), which is located Midguard, live four mythical deer called Dainn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Durapror. Each of the phases have horns shaped like the branches to the top of the tree Yggdrasil, so that they can feel as if they lived on top of the tree. Each deer also wears a different colored gem on his horns. Dainn wears a blue gem, a jewel Dvalinn crimson sun Duneyrr a stone (yellow) and a stone Durapror sites (purple / black). It also says that deer bow their necks to get to chew the branches and shred the leaves.

Xerneas in the trailer, has horns shaped like branches and brightly colored gems embedded

The Legendary Pokémon, Xerneas is indeed not only a deer (venison), but their horns are shaped many branches. Between the horns (branches) of Xerneas are different colors (gems, lights, etc. ..) and in the trailer the red, blue, yellow and purple can be seen clearly. Could Xerneas incarnation of the four deer in one? It is very possible. Xerneas not have wings and therefore would be stuck in the ground in the world representing the horizontal ... X. The X axis is used to display the horizontal plane of the "soil" and is another indication of why Pokemon X has Xerneas as legendary.

I also want to emphasize the idea of quickly looking up deer. I might be alone in the trailer but the first thing that we see is Xerneas when looking at the trees. 'Another deer sign on the history of Yggdrasil? Could be.

Poetic Dragon Drawing biting Nordic roots of Yggdrasil.

Finally the most important part for another game of the sixth generation, Pokémon Z, would become what is located at the roots of Yggdrasil. At the foot of the tree (roots), is where Niflheim is located, there lives a serpent (or dragon) called Niohoggr. Niohoggr is more like a snake than a dragon's larger counterpart. Therefore, the body is corrugated and easily bendable. Niohoggr is a being who eats one of the three roots of Yggdrasill. It is sometimes believed that the roots are trapping the beast from the rest of the worlds. A snakelike dragon is perfect for creating another "form" legendary accompanying X and Y. How else could do so if a Pokémon representing Z except with a snake? Niohoggr in this case could represent the third main legendary Pokemon of the sixth generation of games, curling her body as Z. The reason could be that there is this Pokémon in X and Y, or why not become a true "legend" to Pokémon Z version is also explained in the myth. It is said that Niohoggr is trapped inside the roots of Yggdrasil. This could mean that the dragon Legendary Z is trapped inside somewhere, object or world and the coach will have to do something to release it and catch it. You may also be able to free the Legendary Z, the coach will first need to acquire the other two legendary in order to complete the trio Yggdrasil.
Why the Dragon also represents and must be the legendary Z version is explained in the coordinate system in history. The Yggdrasil tree roots stick out in all directions while the top half is kept in a constant. This refers to the Z coordinate, the coordinate can be located in any direction along the X and Y axis to create a 3D plane.

Pokémon X, Y y Z: El Árbol

In the trailer for Pokémon X and Y, there is a part where you can see the male trainer on rope jumping around a giant tree. This tree is probably a version of Yggdrasil in the game. Coach may visit this place to catch one of the Legendary Pokémon.

Summary and Conclusion:

The top of the tree (its vertical) creates the Y coordinate mathematics symbolizing and location of Asgard. The top of the tree is also the home of the eagle, which in this case would Yveltal. A bird blind, but has the power to see the souls of people / Pokémon. The middle part of the tree (the trunk, and soil mostly) creates the X coordinate mathematics symbolizing and location of Midgard. The floor of the tree is home to the four-horned deer of different colors like the branches of Yggdrasil. The legendary Pokémon Xerneas is a deer that goes into every color gemstones and a lot of horns in the form of tree branches. The bottom of the tree (roots) create the Z coordinate and symbolizes Niflheim. The dragon who lives here is a snake that can take the shape you want with your body. This is the home of the legendary Dragon Pokémon Z. This legendary will his body as a Z to complete the trio. The home of the legendary Pokémon could be in the giant tree located somewhere in the game. This tree could very well represent Yggdrasil, the home of these mythical creatures.

It is quite likely that with these three legendary and the X, Y and Z (associated with the three main worlds) are what Nintendo had in mind when they created this generation of Pokémon. The myth of Yggdrasil has happened in many forms, most poems, but each representation of the story is the same. The Eagle, Dragon and deer are always present in the Tree of Life and each is the protector of the three main worlds, while also covering the nine worlds of Norse cosmology.
